Powers PSN Pilot Launches For Free In December

The Powers pilot will be freely available on the PlayStation Network, while PS Plus members will have access to the full series.

We were already aware that Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming’s Powers would make its way to PSN, which was very promising news. Still, I expect fans were feeling downright ecstatic once Bendis took the stage at E3 to talk about the adaptation. Outside of promising that the show will stay true to the gritty tone of the original superhero comic, Bendis also noted that the pilot episode will be freely available on PSN this December. Even better, PS Plus members will be given full access to the entire series at no extra charge.

Powers is a creator-owner comic that merges superhero battles with police procedural dramas. Its main characters, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, are police detectives assigned to powers-related homicides, where the victim or suspect has superhuman abilities. The series tends to take a far darker approach to superheroes than other comics, considering that most characters are ordinary humans with little protection from the godlike beings they police.

So far the series still appears to be a US exclusive, which is a little disappointing for us Canadians who may need to wait for a DVD release. *sigh*
