Let the hype flow through you. I know I have.
There’s been a glut of Guardians of the Galaxy news and rumors lately, and that means we must be getting close to the premiere of the film. If you’re like me, you’re probably dying to see this thing and you might even be considering standing in line to watch a 17-minute long trailer in Imax theaters next week, even if it’s disappointing that Nathan Fillion isn’t playing Nova*.
But maybe you’re not going to be able to watch that 17-minute preview. Because we care, we’ve put together something for you to enjoy while you wait for the full movie to come out. Here’s a very Guardians-tastic Cosplay gallery for your Tuesday afternoon, full of inventive and impressive costumes, and plenty of ooga chooga. Enjoy.
We’ll start with a classy looking group shot of the team.
*He is, however, playing Cosmo, which is even better.
I love genderbent cosplay, especially when it isn’t trying to hard to be ostentatiously “sexy”, and here’s a fine example of it. Enjoy this awesome Rule 63 Peter Quill.
And in case you couldn’t tell, here she is without the mask. Ooga chooga.
This Gamora almost looks cooler than Zoe Saldana’s version. Oh who am I kidding, this looks cooler, hands-down.
Here’s a pretty great Nova, and RUMOR: This one isn’t portrayed by Nathan Fillion either.
Have a look at the dynamic duo. I’ve got to hand it to this Rocket and Groot, their costumes are brill, especially the wooden dad loafers.
Our second Gamora knew Yorik well.
Here’s another Nova. An extremely badassly posed Nova. Who I want to be like.
This Rocket looks like it just walked out of your trash can and is all “WHAT! COME ON I’M A RACCOON. Jerk.”
Here’s Nova and Quasar, posing for an Alex Ross cover, I assume.
Thanks to Vansau for pointing out that this is Quasar and not Captain Marvel.
Here’s another Gamora, looking very much like she might kill you as soon as look at you.
This is the most adorable genderbent Rocket ever. Also she looks kind of dangerous, just like real raccoons, which often have rabies. See more at Vanessa Wedge Cosplay..
By far the most authentically muscled cosplayer of all time. This is also a great Drax costume too.
This solo Groot mask was designed by Lee of HurleyFX. You can see more of his work here. WARNING: Well worth your time.
Finally, we’ll close with another Guardians Group Shot. Say goodbye, Guardians!
