A Quiet Place Part II Delayed Indefinitely Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

A Quiet Place Part II, John Krasinski, Paramount Pictures, Coronavirus Pandemic

A Quiet Place Part II has been delayed indefinitely following growing concerns regarding the coronavirus pandemic. Paramount Pictures and director John Krasinski revealed plans to delay the film’s release on social media, stating that, “now is clearly not the right time to (release the film).” The film was originally set to release internationally on March 18, in the United Kingdom on March 19, and in North America next week on March 20.

Paramount has also released its own statement:

After much consideration, and in light of the ongoing and developing situation concerning coronavirus and restrictions on global travel and public gatherings, Paramount Pictures will be moving the worldwide release of A Quiet Place Part II. We believe in and support the theatrical experience, and we look forward to bringing this film to audiences this year once we have a better understanding of the impact of this pandemic on the global theatrical marketplace.

Paramount and Krasinski have yet to announce a new release date for A Quiet Place Part II, so it may be best to hold off hopes to see the movie until the worst of the coronavirus pandemic passes.

The writing has been on the wall for all upcoming films following the decision to postpone the release of No Time to Die until November for similar reasons. Other upcoming film releases that have yet to see a delay include Disney’s Mulan remake, The New Mutants, Black Widow, and many others. Some movie studios have hunkered down, saying that there are no plans to delay their movies, though the nature of the virus means the situation dramatically changes every day.

Darren Mooney recently wrote about how the coronavirus’s impact illustrates the full globalization of the film market.

Stay tuned for more updates regarding the eventual, rescheduled release date for A Quiet Place Part II.
