Marvel has announced that Kathryn Hahn is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for a Disney+ spinoff show called Agatha: House of Harkness. Plus, the Echo TV series was formally announced for Disney+, and Secret Invasion and Ironheart were reiterated as part of Disney+ Day. They are all “coming soon.” For Agatha, the company announced that WandaVision’s Jac Schaefer is coming back to serve as head writer and executive producer for the live-action series. WandaVision ended with Agatha’s ultimate defeat, but for now, it’s unclear what exactly Agatha: House of Harkness will be about.
Disney+ Day has come with a slew of Marvel-related announcements, like the official announcement of Echo. The series stars Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez, a character fans will be introduced to in the upcoming Hawkeye show. Details are scant for now, but we can at least hope to get a better look at the character sometime shortly after Hawkeye premieres later this month.
Disney+ Day also gave us our first look at Samuel L. Jackson’s return as Nick Fury in the Secret Invasion series. The show follows Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos and Nick and revolves around a faction of Skrulls who have lived on Earth for years. Jackson’s character looks understandably angry and tired after the catastrophic events of Avengers: Endgame, as you can see below, along with official logos for Echo and Ironheart.
More Disney+ Marvel spinoff series were announced or reconfirmed today, including animated series Spider-Man: Freshmen Year, Marvel Zombies, and I Am Groot. We even got first footage of Moon Knight and She-Hulk Disney+ shows today, which along with Agatha: House of Harkness makes Disney+ Day one of the biggest events for MCU fans in quite some time. Non-MCU Marvel fans got their own exciting news though, as Disney+ subscribers will soon get to watch X-Men ’97, a continuation of the original ‘90s X-Men animated series.
