Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Final Season Gets Its First Trailer

Marvel’s broadcast television days are finally coming to an end with the final season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. hitting soon. But judging from the first trailer for the new season, the end of Marvel Television won’t be a whimper.

Time travel sure is playing a major part in the MCU. This trailer has plenty of similarities to Avengers: Endgame‘s time travel plot, which actually brought Tony Stark back to about the same time as this. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. sees the team flung back in time with no way to return but a brand new Zephyr that could time-jump at any moment. In a rush to save the future and the past from the Chromicons, they’ll team up with a familiar face from Agent Carter, Daniel Sousa (Enver Gjokaj). It’s unclear if the series will jump around more in time or stay in 1931 New York.

You’ll also note the return (again) of the very dead Agent Coulson in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. This time he isn’t an alternate universe evil demon god thing but an LMD, the robot “clones” first seen a few seasons ago. We’ll probably also see a host of other faces from the show’s past if the series does jump around in time — and given the face-stealing technology on display in the trailer.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may have had its ups and downs, but as it grew away from an MCU movie stopgap to doing its own thing, it improved greatly. This final season will hopefully be a fitting farewell not just to this series but to all of Marvel Television’s shows.
