Castle Crashers and Alien Hominid developer The Behemoth has announced its newest game, Alien Hominid Invasion. The studio took to Twitch to reveal the game, making sure to build up hype with a pre-announcement stream. This brand new entry is “not a remaster or remake,” with the studio saying the entire game was made from scratch, though a tweet later referred to the game as a “reinvention of Alien Hominid HD” that includes new “gameplay, progression, mechanics, and more.”

Unsurprisingly, The Behemoth chose to stick with its iconic cartoonish art style. What is surpising, however, is that the team decided to revisit an IP that made its console debut about 15 years ago. This time, the studio’s yellow little alien is sporting a much cleaner art style.
Alien Hominid Invasion will be “vastly different” when compared to the original, though loyal fans can rest assured, as the game won’t stray away from its co-op arcade shooter roots. Speaking on the importance of co-op play, the team said, “we need more [co-op games] in the industry,” going on to express their love for developing games with other players in mind.
The Behemoth wasn’t keen to share many details on game five, but eager fans can get their hands on Alien Hominid Invasion next month at PAX East or in March at EGX Rezzed. Until then, the sequel does not have a release window pinned down.
