Aliens: Fireteam is now officially called Aliens: Fireteam Elite, and it has set a release date of Aug. 24, 2021 on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S. A new trailer from developer Cold Iron Studios blends more gameplay and cinematics, promising a tense return to the Alien universe. See more swarms of Xenomorph in the video below.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite was revealed last March. This third-person co-op survival shooter takes place 23 years after the events of the Alien movie trilogy. You’ll play with friends or AI teammates after your ship, the USS Endeavor, responds to a distress call. There will be five character classes and four unique campaigns to fight through, with 20 different enemy types, including different variations of Xenomorph and Weyland-Yutani Synthetics.
You’ll be able to pick up Aliens: Fireteam Elite for $39.99 when the release date rolls around this August. Meanwhile, a Deluxe Edition retails at $69.99 and contains the Endeavor Pass and the Endeavor Veteran Pack, which each include loads of cosmetics (that can also be purchased separately). Preordering either version grants access to the Hardened Marine Pack, which includes a Chestburster emote, bandana accessory, and weapon customizations. If you’re still hungry for a better look, we got to see an extended gameplay demonstration shortly after the reveal that showed off more of the game’s visceral combat and ruthless enemies.
The Escapist also reviewed a tie-in novel last month, Aliens: Infiltrator, that was surprisingly stellar.
