Ahead of its release later this month, Netflix has released a new Altered Carbon trailer for its second season. It’s significantly longer than the first look we received at season 2 and features over two minutes of action that fans can dissect. The newly Anthony Mackie-led series is based upon the 2002 cyberpunk novel of the same name by Richard Kingsley Morgan, which has spanned four books all starring Takeshi Kovacs.
All eight episodes that compose the second season of the cyberpunk show will release on Feb. 27, 2020, which is just over two years after the initial season premiered. Altered Carbon season 2, which clocks in at two fewer episodes than the first, also features a new showrunner as Lost and The Flash producer Alison Schapker has taken over duties from Laeta Kalogridis. Several talented directors are also on board as it features alumni from Vikings, Ash vs. Evil Dead, and Dear White People among other shows.
The two-minute trailer shows Kovacs returning to Harlan’s World in search of his long-lost love. “I’m still looking for her and I can’t walk away,” says Kovacs before being warned that it’s obsession he’s dealing with rather than love. The second season of Altered Carbon will revolve around Kovacs’ past and the planet being at war.
Thankfully for fans, the second season of Altered Carbon won’t be all they’ll get to watch this year. Netflix recently confirmed that they’re working on an animated film set in the Altered Carbon universe as well. Called Altered Carbon: Resleeved, it’s set to expand upon the fictional universe and release in the spring of 2020.
