Closure

Closure is a particularly clever puzzle game, but that’s not why it’s my recommendation for this week’s Alt+Escape. Although there’s nothing overtly malevolent about it, there’s something undeniably creepy about the game’s atmosphere that makes it a perfect choice for Friday the 13th. Spooky!

The object of Closure is to manipulate areas of light and darkness to make your way to the door at the end of each level. Objects only exist if you can see them – you can only see them when they’re in the small corona of light provided by the glowing globes you can carry around. Move a globe so that the wall blocking your way falls into shadow, and you’ll be able to walk right through it … and the floor, too, if you’re not careful to leave that part lit.

Don’t worry if you can’t finish Closure in one sitting; the game saves your progress and lets you replay any level you’ve completed.

Closure‘s stark graphics and ominous soundtrack may not be the most appropriate way to to kick off your Valentine’s Day weekend, but then again they might just set the perfect tone. Depends on your particular view of romance, I suppose.
