Foundation 9 Entertainment has announced that they will bring Amaze Entertainment into the fold, forming the largest independent game development company in the world.
Once the merger is complete, Foundation 9 will have approximately 725 employees spread out across 11 studios. Combined, they will have produced 30 games for various publishers in both the US and Europe for the year of 2006.
“The team at Amaze has done a fantastic job in growing one of the most trusted and best run independent developers, period,” said Jon Goldman, Chairman and CEO of Foundation 9. “Our combined strength in handheld will be unparalleled, which provides excellent balance to our growing roster of 5+ next-gen titles. Together, we’ll offer our publishing partners an unrivalled breadth of resources and capabilities to help them achieve their goals.”
Amaze Entertainment will join The Collective, Backbone Entertainment, Shiny Entertainment, Pipeworks, ImaginEngine and Digital Eclipse in the growing stable of developers residing under the Foundation 9 umbrella.
“We’re thrilled to be joining the first rate studios that already make up Foundation 9,” said Amaze CEO Dan Elenbaas. “We’ve experienced tremendous success at Amaze and believe the combined opportunity will be even more exciting for all of our employees and partners.”
Foundation 9 is currently working on over 20 titles, including Sonic Rivals for SEGA and Dirty Harry for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Amaze is responsible for games such as Eragon, Lord of the Rings: Tactics, Spyro Legend and a good deal more.
