E3 2015

Arrived, This Star Wars: Battlefront Gameplay Trailer Has – Update

Star Wars: Battlefront finally has a gameplay trailer, and the Force is strong with this one.

Star Wars fans have been hoping for a true Battlefront sequel for almost ten years – one that would fully recapture the wonderful large-scale sci-fi battles we saw on the big screen. Now with EA and DICE finally bringing us a new edition, the question is whether it can live up to the hype. While we can’t say for sure yet, if this E3 gameplay trailer is anything to go on, the Force might be very strong with this game. Not only does every Star Wars aspect look fantastic – from infantry shootouts, to starship dogfights, to freaking Force battles – this is all captured from pre-alpha gameplay footage. That’s a good sign for the finished game, which EA adds will launch on Nov. 17, 2015.

The trailer takes us presents Battlefront‘s version of the iconic Battle of Hoth, with the perspective switching between Imperial attackers and the Rebel forces holding them at bay. Pretty much all gameplay elements are covered here – you’ve got infantry fighters getting into position to fight enemy troops, Walker vehicles towering above them, and fighter craft engaged in dogfights across the skies. The real jawdropper comes at the very end though, when Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker enter the fray to duke it out – complete with a full suite of Force-based powers.

Combined, this mean Battlefront is shaping up to be a very promising game, even with the changes to its traditional formula. Here’s hoping Episode VII isn’t the only Star Wars product we’ll be enjoying when it launches this holiday season.

Update: It turns out that gameplay trailer wasn’t the only one fans would see today. At Sony’s press event, attendees were treated to another trailer showcasing Battlefront‘s co-op survival gameplay – yet another thing to look forward to in November.
