The next several years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been laid out recently (in addition to some extra wrinkles, like with Armor Wars and Blade), and it’s all culminating in Avengers: Secret Wars, the movie that will end MCU Phase 6. Today per Deadline, Avengers: Secret Wars has found its writer in Michael Waldron, the creator of the Disney+ series Loki who also wrote the script for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Marvel has not shared any plot details for Avengers: Secret Wars or the movie that immediately precedes it, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, but we do know the writer and director of the latter. The Kang Dynasty will be directed by Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Jeff Loveness, who has written the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. It has not yet been announced who will direct Secret Wars, but it is not believed to be Cretton.
MCU Phases 4, 5, and 6 collectively compose the MCU “Multiverse Saga,” which is one of the only clues we have about the story for these upcoming movies. The villain Kang will obviously play significantly into it, and he will appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and presumably Loki season 2. It makes sense then that Michael Waldron and Jeff Loveness would be heavily involved as writers for these upcoming Avengers movies.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 2, 2025, and Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled for November 7, 2025. In the meantime, Werewolf by Night and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever are coming this year.
