Axiom Verge 2 has been delayed again, pushing its release window to Q3 2021. News of the schedule change comes from IGN, which recently spoke with developer Thomas Happ about the sequel’s progress. Happ apparently didn’t share too much regarding the reasoning for the delay, though he did add that the game “will be better for the additional time.”
Happ announced Axiom Verge 2 as the hotly anticipated sequel to his indie hit during a Nintendo Indie World Showcase in late 2019. It was originally set to launch sometime that following year but eventually saw a delay that pushed it to the first half of 2021. This new delay hasn’t pushed the release date out too much further away, so let’s hope we hear more in the next few months.
In the meantime, Happ has worked with 2 Player Productions to bring fans a free version of the Axiom Verge: Making-of Documentary. The documentary was originally made available with the Axiom Verge: Multiverse Edition and via purchase on Steam, but you can watch it at IGN or access it when it comes to Steam for free sometime in the near future.
Following this delay, Axiom Verge 2 is currently set to launch on Nintendo Switch and PC via the Epic Games Store later this year.
