Baldur’s Gate 3 launches in early access today on PC and Stadia, and developer Larian Studios provided some details about the game’s timeline and what kind of state it is in. The early access content contains Act 1, while Acts 2 and 3 are still being worked on. Larian notes that the studio anticipates Baldur’s Gate 3 to be in early access for at least one year.

Act 1 contains roughly 25 hours of content in one playthrough, with six classes and numerous races/subraces to choose from. Five “origin characters” can be recruited as well, and while they cannot be played as right now, they will be playable later on. Additionally, more languages will be supported as the early access period continues.

Larian clarified that the studio decided to go with the early access strategy because large and expansive RPGs require an incredible amount of feedback. The continuous input from players will allow the studio to refine Baldur’s Gate 3 and create an enjoyable experience for everyone when it hits version 1.0. The final 1.0 launch will of course include all three acts of the game.

Baldur’s Gate 3 early access is available now for $59.99 on GOG, Steam, and Stadia.
