Banjo-Kazooie Got a Mesmerizing Fan Remaster We Wish We Could Play

Just don't look too closely at the static, soulless character models.

A group of fans called Project Dream has fully reimagined 1998 Nintendo 64 game Banjo-Kazooie with a 20-minute fan remaster video. The video showcases all of the major areas of the game with beautiful new visuals and even features remastered orchestral music provided by Dark-Grunt Music. It’s not actually playable; it’s just a video. But it’s still an impressive sight.

This Banjo-Kazooie fan remaster gets the mind reeling what developer Rare could do if it decided to make a new entry for Xbox Series X. At present, the franchise only has three mainline entries. Following Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie arrived on Nintendo 64 in 2000, and then the much different Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts came to Xbox 360 in 2008.

However, Banjo is enjoying a small renaissance in recent years. Banjo and Kazooie soared into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate back in 2019, and Banjo-Kazooie finally arrived on Nintendo Switch Online this past January. And Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie have been available as part of Rare Replay on Xbox One since 2015.

It seems unlikely Rare will actually revive Banjo for a new entry anytime soon, since it is busy with Sea of Thieves and the perpetually delayed Everwild. So, this Banjo-Kazooie fan remaster video from Project Dream will just have to be to good enough for the moment.
