Bethesda Softworks has announced the release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition, which will be available in stores as early as September 11.

The Oblivion Game of the Year release will include the original Elder Scrolls IV role-playing game, along with the Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles expansions. Comprised of collected downloadable content originally available via the Elder Scrolls website, Knights of the Nine focuses on a new joinable faction which leads players into a quest for ancient relics and a battle against a powerful sorcerer-king. Shivering Isles, a more conventional full expansion for Oblivion, takes players to the twisted realm of Sheogorath, the Daedric Prince of Madness, filled with large dungeons and all new items, spells and more. The Shivering Isles expansion offers over 30 hours of new gameplay on top of Oblivion’s already-epic length.

Originally released in March 2006 for the PC and Xbox 360,with a PlayStation 3 release in March 2007, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was an immediate success for Bethesda, winning numerous Game and RPG of the Year awards. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition for the PC and Xbox 360 is shipping now, and will be followed by a PlayStation 3 version in October.
