Biomutant has finally pinned down a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S release date of September 6, 2022. THQ Nordic and Experiment 101 announced the current-gen version release date today, confirming a host of upgrades coming for those who grab it for $39.99 this fall. Those who already own Biomutant on PlayStation 4 and/or Xbox One can upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series X | S versions for free.
Both upgraded versions of the 2021 RPG offer enhancements such as faster loading times, 4K and HDR support, and 60 fps options. Players can choose what settings to prioritize with three different graphics modes: Quality, Quality Unleashed, and Performance. On PS5 and Xbox Series X, Quality locks Biomutant at 30 fps at 4K resolution, and Performance locks visuals at 60 fps at 1440p, with Quality Unleashed serving as a middle ground at an average of 50-60 fps and up to 4K resolution. The Xbox Series S version, meanwhile, offers 1440p resolution for Quality and Quality Unleashed, while supporting 1080p on Performance mode.
PS5 players can expect to enjoy DualSense features as well, including haptic feedback and adaptive trigger support. Motion control and speaker sound are present on the PlayStation version as well, with THQ Nordic saying the game also takes advantage of the console’s Activity Cards feature. Those who have save files from PS4 and Xbox One versions of Biomutant will be able to bring their progress over to the new versions of the game, too.
It’s no secret that Biomutant would eventually come to PS5 and Xbox Series X | S, but fans have been left waiting for something more concrete since the game originally launched in May of last year. Today’s release date gives players an RPG to look forward to this fall, so be sure to stay tuned for more information until then.
