Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Gets New Area Inspired by Journey Next Week

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Journey update The Tunnels area guardian boss thatgamecompany August 23 1.4

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is the gift that keeps on giving. Originally released back in 2019, the Castlevania-inspired title has been receiving a fair amount of free updates and paid DLC post-launch. Free updates include adding a randomizer mode and Aurora from Child of Light as a playable character. It seems the game isn’t done with third-party additions, however. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night just announced a crossover including a new castle area with Journey, the indie darling from thatgamecompany that debuted on PlayStation 3. It will launch on August 23 for free on Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, iOS, Android, and Stadia.

The official Bloodstained website shares all the details. Miriam will traverse a new section of the castle, The Tunnels, with imagery and level design inspired by Journey. At the area’s end, Miriam will fight a special guardian. Defeating it will provide her with a Journey-inspired equippable item. Extra information on where this area is located and when you can access it are provided on the aforementioned webpage.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night update 1.4 doesn’t just include this awesome Journey crossover. Here are some bug fixes provided with the upgrade:

  • Fixed an issue with save and warp rooms randomizing when option was set to unchanged in Randomizer
  • Fixed an issue with a timestamp error on Nintendo Switch version
  • Fixed an issue where commands displayed is not updated for the custom controller configuration.
  • General bug fixing

It’s great to see a title get this much support after release. Hopefully, we’ll see more DLC until the eventual sequel comes out.
