A report from Italian entertainment company Digital Bros, which owns and operates publisher 505 Games, suggests a sequel to Koji Igarashi’s Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is in development. The report doesn’t outright say the word “sequel” but more specifically that there is a “second version in development.”
What this phrase means isn’t entirely clear, whether the new version is a sequel or a SKU for the new generation of consoles. However, Digital Bros also publishes Ghostrunner through 505 Games. A sequel for that game was announced earlier this month for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series, and the Digital Bros report uses the same language of “second version in development” to seemingly refer to that Ghostrunner sequel. So it stands to reason that the report is confirming a Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night sequel.

On Ghostrunner‘s page, it mentions “next-gen version launch in Q1 FY 2022” for the first game. That rules out the possibility that “second version in development” means just a port to the new consoles. The report doesn’t state which platforms the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night‘s sequel will launch on, so whether or not it is a cross-generational title is up in the air right now. A release window is absent as well, so the game could be a ways off from release.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night‘s prequel, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, also got a sequel itself last year, so a follow-up to Ritual of the Night doesn’t sound far-fetched at all.
