Steam’s got a special offer for all you Monkey Island fans: pre-order the special edition of Monkey Island 2, earn a free copy of the first game.
It was barely a year ago when LucasArts stated it wasn’t planning to revamp Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge. “I think LeChuck’s Revenge would be awesome to revisit, but at this time we have no plans for future updates,”said LucasArts producer Craig Derrick. How quickly things change: Not only is the remake about to be released, but anyone who pre-orders the game on Steam will receive a free copy of the original Monkey Island: Special Edition.
While this may not be much of an incentive for someone who already downloaded the original Monkey Island, there’s another option available. You can gift the game to someone else on Steam, which could then create a new Guybrush Threepwood fan who might pre-order Monkey Island 2 and then start the cycle over again.
Monkey Island: Special Edition is currently selling for $9.99, the exact same price as Monkey Island 2 is going for, so this is a pretty solid deal for anyone who’s been meaning to play the remastered games but hasn’t gotten around to it yet.
