Capcom has released casting details about its upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie, which everyone hopes will be better than the last live-action Street Fighter movie.

This time, the movie will revolve around Chinese thunder-thighs Chun Li, who will be portrayed by Smallville alumnus Kristen Kreuk. Other confirmed cast members include Neal McDonough as M. Bison, Michael Clarke Duncan as Balrog and Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas as Vega. The movie is one of numerous projects Capcom has in the works to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the famed arcade classic. Street Fighter IV, the latest addition to the franchise, will be released in Japanese arcades this summer.

The original Street Fighter movie cast Jean-Claude Van Damme as Colonel William Guile, battling the evil warlord General M. Bison and his troops. The movie earned a 3.1 rating at the Internet Movie Database and is widely considered a travesty by both movie and videogame fans alike. Street Fighter is best known for being the final movie of respected actor Raul Julia, who died of a stroke days before its release and was thus able to avoid taking any direct blame for the thing.

Street Fighter is being developed in conjunction with Hyde Park Films, and will be distributed by 20th Century Fox. The movie is currently scheduled for a worldwide release in 2009.
