Despite a lack of updates since the game’s reveal, Capcom says Deep Down still has some life left in it. Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono gave hope to those wondering where the mysterious game has been since its PlayStation 4 announcement back in 2013 during an interview with Eurogamer:
The original team is clearly no longer together at this point, but people might have noticed that we’ve kept the trademark registered, and it’s not been completely given up on. Every year we examine titles we’re doing in future, and we bring up projects to approve and move forward. There’s not much I can say about it, but if you’ve noticed we’ve kept the trademark it means we haven’t given up on the title completely.
Things don’t sound good for Capcom’s dungeon crawler, but those excited to find out what has become of the title might eventually get to see what it has turned into. That said, don’t expect anything too similar to what fans were originally shown for Deep Down, considering the announcement trailer (below) debuted more than six years ago.
Since the initial reveal, Capcom has trickled out information here and there, including some screenshots from 2014 and the announcement of a beta that never came to be.
Deep Down has been in development for quite some time, but just in case the game does manage to see the light of day sooner or later, stay tuned for more updates.
