Looks like Trevor Belmont has collected all the items and unlocked everything, so it’s time for the ultimate confrontation with Dracula. Season 4, the final season of Netflix’s successful anime of the Castlevania games, is coming, and the first trailer has dropped revealing a sinister plot to revive Dracula and plenty of Alucard brooding. The final season will arrive on May 13.
The series has been one of Netflix’s more successful stabs at anime and a rare video game adaptation that actually is good. The show is a blood-and-gore-filled romp but does a surprisingly good job of developing its lead characters, Trevor Belmont, Sypha Belnades, and Alucard. The former two will be struggling to stop Dracula’s resurrection this season as evil creatures attempt to bring him back. Meanwhile, Alucard is struggling to embrace his humanity, which could lead to some problems. The final season of Castlevania will consist of a whopping 10 episodes, a far cry from the first season, which only had four.
The fourth season will see Richard Armitage, Graham McTavish, James Callis, Emily Swallow, Matt Frewer, Tony Amendola, and Alejandra Reynoso all return as voice actors. It was created and written by comic book legend Warren Ellis, who worked on this final season as well.
Castlevania fans need not worry about being without a show for too long. Reports say that Netflix, which is going heavy into anime with a host of new shows, is considering a new series featuring an entirely new cast of characters taken from the games.
