Chivalry 2 has been delayed to 2021. Torn Banner Studios announced the news on the game’s website, citing the COVID-19 pandemic and a desire to live up to the original Chivalry as the cause of the delay. Chivalry 2 was originally given a 2020 release window for PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
Chivalry 2 was also scheduled to begin a beta test before summer concluded, but that has been pushed to an unspecified date as well.
“As we settle in to working together in new ways in a COVID-19 world, our development timelines are shifting to utilize this additional time to better meet our core goals for Chivalry 2, as well as allowing us to incorporate several (quality-of-life) improvements and also include what was originally post-launch content, in the release,” the statement says.
Torn Banner elaborated on what the extra time offers, adding that more maps and features will be playable at launch than the team had originally planned, though horses, for example, are still pinned as post-launch content.
Back when Chivalry 2 was revealed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, Torn Banner Studios announced that the medieval combat game will also support cross-play.
Torn Banner’s bloody sequel was originally set to launch on Steam in 2021. It is unclear how the delay will affect the Steam release.
