Cock the Vote With Gamecock

Gamecock Media Group has launched CockTheVote.us, a non-partisan website aimed at encouraging voter registration among videogamers.

Featuring characters and candidates from Gamecock’s upcoming political animal game Hail to the Chimp, the site will feature video clips from the campaign trail as well as reports from Hail to the Chimp’s own newscaster Woodchuck Chumley, links to political information at RockTheVote.com and an embedded widget will which allow eligible gamers to register to vote. The company also recently took its cast of characters on the road to Rock the Vote in Iowa and the University of South Carolina during the South Carolina primary.

“Gamecock wants YOU to vote in the human American presidential election,” said Gamecock Grand Champeen Mike Wilson. “And, perhaps more importantly, to check out Hail to the Chimp’s candidates and get involved in the first ever presidential election for the new animal republic!”

“Our original intent was to join the campaign trail with Hail to the Chimp to provide much-needed comic relief from the election season,” Wilson continued. “And, now that Colbert’s not running, we thought we’d better focus our attention on those who are. However, our meeting with Rock the Vote inspired us to use our gaming muscle to energize people in the election process. Thus was born, CockTheVote.us.”

Hail to the Chimp is a non-partisan party game in which various animals fight over the presidency of the animal kingdom. Gamecock said the game, developed by Wideload, won’t make any specific political statements but will hopefully encourage gamers to become more politically aware and active. Hail to the Chimp is scheduled for release in May 2008; more information is available at www.chimplove.com and www.cockthevote.us.
