Colin Jost & Brother Will Write New Live-Action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie

It seems that comedians are in control of the cinematic future of the Ninja Turtles. Last year we learned that Seth Rogen was producing a rebooted animated film for the heroes in a half shell, and now Colin Jost, along with his brother Casey, has been tapped to write a screenplay for Paramount’s next live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. With Michael Bay, Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, Scott Mednick, and Galen Walker producing, the film sounds like it will be more in line with the rebooted series that starred Megan Fox.

However, there is nothing actually known about the new movie other than the fact that it will indeed star Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael. Deadline reporting does not clarify if this will be directly connected to 2014’s relaunched live-action series and its sequel, 2016’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, or if it will be yet another reboot for a franchise that has seen so many incarnations that it’s hard to remember that it all started with a violent black-and-white comic book.

Colin Jost is best known for being half of the anchor team on “Weekend Update” onĀ Saturday Night Live and is a key writer on that series. However, he hasn’t made the jump to movie star or even a major writer in any way yet. He did recently star in the new Tom & Jerry movie and is writing a film called Worst Man, but penning a major blockbuster based on a beloved IP is a whole different level. Casey Jost, meanwhile, has even less experience in film, with credits on TV including Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Perhaps the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie will set itself apart from previous entries with a script by Colin and Casey Jost.
