Cosplayer Freya Willia spent two years crafting an epic recreation of the female Shepard’s battle armor from Mass Effect 3.
While gamers, in general, had oodles of issues with the ending to Mass Effect 3, probably the most consistent complaint was that it just wasn’t a worthy close for a protagonist as awesome as Commander Shepard. Bioware, of course, would go on to patch the ending, adding in content to try and rectify the injustice perpetrated against everyone’s favorite Spectre. Sadly, even with the ending expanded, many were still leftfeeling disappointed. Luckily for them, the world contains people like Freya Willia to help cheer them up with her incredible cosplay.
Willia, in a set of pictures posted to her Flickr page, recently debuted her custom made version of FemShep’s battle armor. Using a design she made in Photoshop, she built it “mainly” from vac-formed styrene and carbon fiber vinyl. She also detailed the pieces herself and installed LED lights to help make it look more dynamic. To give herself an authentic looking arsenal she also purchased an N7 Rifle from Volpin Props and a Carnifex pistol detailed with a kit from Punished Props. As a finishing touch, she then constructed her own omni-blade from plastic. The costume overall took her nearly two years to complete.
We feel safe in saying that the end result was definitely worth the work. Willia’s take on Commander Shepard looks almost uncannily like the default female character as portrayed in Mass Effect 3. In fact, we’d go so far as to say that some of her images could almost be mistaken for official promotional materials if you didn’t already know what you were looking at. If you’d like to learn more about Willia’s construction process, you can check out this forum thread here. In the mean time, take a look at her work and let us know what you think.
