Community Member Spotlight: Sleekgiant

I first noticed Sleekgiant in the The Avatar Store: New and Second-Hand user group as one of the artists that give their free time to the community to create custom avatars for those that want them. They have done very well and are very talented, and even have expanded the different art aspects they are offering for free. Sleekgiant is also an example of the diversity that is accepted and flourishes in the gaming community as a whole.

Here is a quick Q & A to learn more about this member of our community! To find out more or to become his friend, visit his Profile here:

What brought you first to The Escapist?

Well like many it was Zero Punctuation, but I found it actually advertized on X-Play when you first started running ZP. They showed a preview and I just went “awesome”. Shortly afterwards I was on the site and watching ZP religiously every Wednesday.

What is your favorite thing about The Escapist?

To put it plain and simple, the user groups. I have meet a ton of great people and had some rather intriguing conversations in the groups. I guess the fact that anything can be discussed is what I find so appealing and makes me tend to stick to groups now.

If The Escapist suddenly disappeared, what would be the first thing you would do?

Cry and try to find alternate means of contacting my friends from this site. I truly enjoy this site and to see it go would sadden me greatly.

A zombie is attacking you and you were caught off-guard. You are startled and start running and notice a bag of marshmallows. What do you do?

Well we all know zombie games have glitches, therefore I’d jump behind one of those handy invisible barriers and pelt him with marshmallows till he dies.

What is your favorite movie and why?

Hot Fuzz, just something about the movie that made me go, “that is awesome”.

What is your favorite type of music, band, and how you first discovered it/them?

I’m a big alt. rock fan, but really anything that is interesting to listen to, I like. As far as favorites go, I have bands of the moment, which at this moment is Kasabian. As for discovering them, I actually heard the song “Club Foot” when I got the PSP(around the time they first came out). I got the handheld but no games so I was stuck watching music videos on it so I felt I was getting use out of it. I just recently picked up a couple of their albums and have been thoroughly pleased with what I am listening to.

What do you do for a living? Do you find it interesting?

I’m a full time college student currently studying Computer Science specializing in Networking. I hope to land a job as a Network Administrator when I graduate next Spring, the only problem I see is where the job will be exactly.

If you could change one thing about The Escapist, what would it be?

The user bar that shows friends on your list and groups with latest posts; yeah scrap the friends buttons and have hot-keyed user groups. Having to go through my rather large list of user groups is kind of annoying.

Do you like bacon?

Well of course unless this is a trick, but when has bacon ever tricked someone; so yes I love bacon.

If someone gave you a million US Dollars, tax free, and you were required to spend it instead of investing, what would you spend it on?

The first bit of the money would go to pay my dad for all the money he has invested on me, which is a good little chunk(most of it invested in a classic car for me). After that I would use it to move out of my current place of residence and into a new house far, far away from where I currently live. Then assuming I have money leftover to blow, I’d buy an Aston Martin DBR9 and hit the Nordschleife at least once.

Many thanks to Sleekgiant for letting me shine the spotlight on him!
