“Don’t think different…think same!”
It has been almost four years to the day since Apple co-founder Steve Jobs — or as comedian Bill Burr oft refers to him, “Nerd Jesus” — passed away. In those four years, there have been NINE movies and documentaries released about him, including the 2012, Ashton Kutcher-starring clunker, Jobs, and this year’s Michael Fassbender-starring, hotly-anticipated feature, Steve Jobs, which hits theaters on October 23rd.
All this for a man who couldn’t design a new phone that would fit the old phone’s charger (to steal another joke from Burr).
Conversely, there have been exactly zero movies/documentaries released about Michael Dell, the *sole* founder and CEO of the multinational computer technology company that bears his name. Maybe it’s because he lacks the “vision” (and pretentiousness) of a Jobs or even a Wozniacki, maybe it’s because his computers aren’t as flashy, but in any case, Dell has sadly served as a mere footnote in the history books for his entire career.
That is…until now.
On last night’s episode of Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Dell finally received his due credit in the form of a movie trailer, Michael Dell. Without giving too much away, I will say that Michael Dell should serve as the Jurassic Park to Jobs‘ Carnosaur. Confused? SO AM I!!
The trailer, which depicts Dell as a boring, cheap, thoroughly uninspiring businessman just trying to make an extra buck, is sure to throw some fuel on the non-existent fire between Dell and Mac users, and features such brilliant one-liners as:
-“No, you need to make it *cheap*.”
-“Don’t think different…think same!”
-Some men want to change the world, others don’t really care about that stuff.
Based on what I’ve seen, I think it’s safe to say that Michael Dell won’t be winning an Oscar. It will be winning ALL of them.
