Remedy Entertainment has announced that the next-generation version of Control Ultimate Edition will be delayed until early 2021. The studio stated that it needs more time to work on the final quality of the game to ensure a satisfying experience for players. Unfortunately, Remedy didn’t provide an exact date, but we can be sure to expect more details as we head into the upcoming year.
Control received quite a bit of controversy earlier this year. It was confirmed that players who bought the launch version of Control back in August 2019 would not receive a free upgrade to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S versions. However, those who purchased Control Ultimate Edition would. Publisher 505 Games released a statement trying to explain this decision, but it seemed to ring hollow, with fans upset that they’d have to shell out an additional $40.
An update from the development team: Control Ultimate Edition will arrive on next generation platforms early 2021.

Control Ultimate Edition includes the base game as well as The Foundation and AWE DLC content. It’s the version of the game that launched on Steam one year after its timed exclusivity deal on Epic Games Store.
The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S versions of Control Ultimate Edition were originally planned to launch digitally later this year, along with the physical release sometime in early 2021. The game is also currently available to stream on Nintendo Switch via its Cloud Version.
