CrossfireX Delayed to 2021 Due to Challenges from COVID-19

Xbox Series X|S, CrossfireX, Smilegate Entertainment, Remedy Entertainment, delay,

Multiplayer shooter CrossfireX has been delayed to 2021. The game has a free-to-play component developed by Smilegate Entertainment and campaign made in part by Remedy Entertainment, and its official Twitter account announced the release date shift. As with many projects in development in 2020, Smilegate cites the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as reason for the delay. CrossfireX is still set to make its console debut on Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S.

“After much deliberation, and in consideration of the challenges faced by the Smilegate development team due to COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to delay the release of CrossfireX to 2021,” the statement explains. “Moving our release will allow us to deliver the Crossfire experience on console our team set out to create. We’ll have more to share in the future.”

CrossfireX comes as the latest entry in Smilegate’s FPS series after the previous games gained massive popularity in Asia. The 2021 collaboration with Remedy will mark the franchise’s debut on console and, as of now, is only scheduled to release on Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S. The game’s website promises a thrilling story of conflict between Black List and Global Risk Factions, but you can see the excitement for yourself in the campaign trailer released this past July.
