Publisher Akupara Games and developers Paul Hart and Lee Williams have revealed Cryptmaster, a black-and-white dungeon adventure described as “Scribblenauts meets D&D,” for PC. Its “say anything you want” core game mechanic is both simple and extremely complicated. Players can type or speak any word to creatively make their way through encounters that have multiple solutions. As shown in the first Cryptmaster trailer, players must use their words to respond to questions, interact with other characters, and even engage in combat. The game’s premise is interesting enough, but it doesn’t hurt to see that it has a killer vibe about it, too. See those Scribblenauts-like game mechanics at work in the Cryptmaster trailer below.
More details can be found on Cryptmaster’s Steam page, including the fact that players will be given the chance to decipher forgotten spells for practical use in battle. It’s more than a simple dungeon crawler, however, as Hart and Williams say that there is creature collecting, card combat, fishing, and — thank God — bard rap battles, too. These minigames will no doubt play a crucial part in a game that is already brimming with character.
You’ll be able to assemble a cryptic crew of adventurers when Cryptmaster eventually comes to PC. Until then, stay tuned for updates.
