Crysis 2 Demo Hits PC in March

PC gamers will finally get their hands on the long-awaited Crysis 2 demo on March 1.

The Crysis 2 demo was originally announced as an Xbox 360 exclusive back in January, a bit of news that didn’t go over very well with PC gamers anxious for a new Crysis but worried that its notoriously harsh requirements would put the nano-boots to their systems. A few days later, Crytek revealed that a PC demo is in the works as well, although it neglected to say when we might actually get it.

But now we know! March 1 is the day that the Crysis 2 demo finally arrives for the mouse-and-keyboard set. It’ll bring the same goodies to the party as its 360 cousin, with two maps, “Skyline” and “Pier 17,” and two modes of multiplayer action, “Team Instant Action” and “Crash Site.”

I was hoping against hope that Crytek would come across with a single-player demo for the PC since I have absolutely zero interest in Crysis multiplayer, but I suppose this is how things are done these days. It’s not terribly helpful for showing off gameplay but at least it’s an opportunity for PC gamers to find out just how badly the game is going to thump their rigs. When it comes to Crytek games, that’s pretty good information to have.

Crysis 2 comes out on March 22 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
