Today, CD Projekt Red confirmed that cross-save functionality will be available for Cyberpunk 2077 between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, as well as between Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S. If players start playing the game on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, then they can continue where they left off on their corresponding new generation console.
Cyberpunk 2077 is part of Microsoft’s Smart Delivery program, so the save transfer process to Series X | S is almost seamless. As long as your Xbox One is connected to your internet, the console should upload Cyberpunk 2077‘s save data to the cloud automatically. Players also have the option to connect both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S to the same network and use the system network transfer option.
The PlayStation side of cross-save is a bit more complicated. Cyberpunk 2077 is backward compatible on PlayStation 5 and players can continue their progress from PlayStation 4 as long as they use the same account. There are three options to transfer the save from PS4 to PS5:
- PlayStation Plus subscribers can upload their game saves on PS4 to the cloud and then download them to the PS5 console.
- A LAN cable or WiFi connection can transfer data between PS4 and PS5.
- Copy and transfer PS4 save data using a compatible storage device to the same PSN account on PS5.
