After months of extensive game updates, Cyberpunk 2077 has returned to the PlayStation Store. Developer CD Projekt Red announced the update on its website, confirming that the game is again available to download following its removal shortly after launch. Sony originally scrubbed Cyberpunk 2077 from the digital storefront following complaints from fans who were either let down by its quality or felt misled by its marketing.
CD Projekt Red warns that users on standard PlayStation 4 consoles may continue to encounter “performance issues” while updates continue to roll out, adding, “The PS4 Pro and PS5 versions of the game will provide the best experience on PlayStation.” It also reiterated that a free next-gen upgrade of Cyberpunk 2077 will be available in the second half of 2021, and “The upgrade will allow the title to take full advantage of the new console’s more powerful hardware.”
The revived Cyberpunk 2077 PlayStation Store page now contains a similar warning: “Users continue to experience performance issues with this game. Purchase for use on PS4 systems is not recommended. For the best Cyberpunk experience on PlayStation, play on PS4 Pro and PS5 systems.”
CD Projekt Red updated fans with post-launch plans shortly after Cyberpunk 2077 launched late last year. Numerous smaller updates have arrived since then, with larger fixes — such as the ones we saw in January and March — showing up every few months. Meanwhile, CDPR may be changing its approach to the multiplayer component of the game.
