CD Projekt Red just wrapped up Night City Wire episode 2, sharing new Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay details along the way. While there wasn’t anything announced on the level of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime, today’s new footage did include a breakdown of how players can choose to begin their journeys, as well as how combat will progress throughout when the game comes to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One later this year.

You’ll choose one of three character backstories before setting out into the world of Cyberpunk 2077: Street Kid, Nomad, or Corpo. Each option fundamentally changes how the game will begin, with Nomads starting in the dusty outskirts of Night City, for example. Meanwhile, Corpos begin in the shady business world in the heart of the city, while Street Kids live among the thugs on Night City’s, well, streets. Each backstory opens specific gameplay opportunities, such as unique dialogue trees depending on the chosen background.

In Night City Wire episode 2, CD Projekt Red also opened up about Cyberpunk 2077’s cutting-edge combat. One gameplay deep-dive focused on the gunplay, with the studio promising three different gun types: power, tech, and smart. Power guns are the most like guns you’d recognize from the real world with a few exceptions, while tech features quick and impactful weapons, and smart includes tracking weapons.

Gun modifications can help spice things up if you’re getting too bored with what you’ve got in Cyberpunk 2077; scopes and silencers can be added on top of stat-altering chip mods. Players can equip their specialized main character with their own modifications as they buy and collect different rarities of weapons, with the goal being to feel like a kitted-out super soldier by the time credits roll.

CD Projekt Red went the extra musical mile in Night City Wire episode 2 with its interview with Swedish punk band Refused, the group responsible for giving Johnny Silverhand’s group, Samurai, a musical voice. As an added bonus, Refused’s song from Cyberpunk 2077, “A Like Supreme,” is available to listen to today on music streaming platforms.

Cyberpunk 2077 launches Nov. 19 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Versions of the game made for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are still set to arrive sometime after launch. Until then, you can watch the entire presentation below.
