DARK HORSE COMICS - PRESS RELEASES

Dark Horse Offers Free All-New Star Wars Comic

To Celebrate Free Comic Book Day July 3, 2004

On July 3, Dark Horse comics will release a free all-new 32-page issue of Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures to celebrate the third annual Free Comic Book Day. An event that draws thousands of new faces into comic shops across the country, Free Comic Book Day is a perfect venue to introduce new readers to Star Wars comics.

Inspired by the Cartoon Network’s Clone Wars cartoons, Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures uses the television show as a jumping-off point to tell new stories of heroism and villainy in the same stripped-down visual style. In this year’s Free Comic Book Day offering by Welles Hartley and the Fillbach Brothers, Jedi Master Luminara Unduli and her Padawan, Barriss Offee, race against time to evacuate farmers and their families before the droid forces of General Grievous overrun their village. When Barriss and her squad of clone troopers are caught in the path of the enemy army, only fast thinking and steel resolve can save the day!

Originally a history-making event when it began in 2002, Free Comic Book Day has now become an annual celebration of comics, making its own history every year. Free Comic Book Day 2004 will be celebrated around the world on July 3, 2004, a date that comes one day after the theatrical release of the follow-up to the box office hit Spider-Man.

The event will vary by comics store, but the free comics are all special editions published specifically for the event. They range from all-ages-friendly titles to more mature fare intended for sophisticated readers. “The selection of titles reflects the diversity and depth of subject matter available in the comic book medium,” said Free Comic Book Day Committee Spokesperson Barry Lyga. “A primary goal of Free Comic Book Day is to boldly proclaim there really is something in comics for every reader. This year’s variety of available free titles proves that.”
