DC League of Super-Pets Trailer Lets Keanu Reeves Get His Batman Voice On

DC League of Super-Pets trailer Keanu Reeves Batman

Batman voice. It’s a thing. Ever since Christian Bale delivered the gravel in his turn as the Caped Crusader, it’s become extra clear that Batman talks differently than Bruce Wayne. We got it again with the recent release of Robert Pattinson’s Batman voice. Now it’s Keanu Reeves’ turn to try his hand at Batman, as we get to see in the new trailer for the upcoming DC League of Super-Pets, an actual movie releasing in actual theaters with a lot of actual famous people in it.

Far from a low-budget spin-off movie for kids, Warner Bros. is going all out with this movie and delivering what surprisingly looks like a pretty funny movie. While this DC League of Super-Pets trailer focuses on Batman and Kevin Hart’s dog character, the movie is actually about Krypto, Superman’s superpowered dog. In the film, Krypto, voiced by Dwayne Johnson, must pull together a team of shelter pets in order to save the Justice League, who have been kidnapped by an evildoer. The pets have to band together and discover their new powers in order to save the world.

The DC League of Super-Pets voice cast includes a long list of people who are famous and show up in voice casts a lot. They include Hart, Reeves, Johnson, Kate McKinnon, John Krasinski, Vanessa Bayer, Natasha Lyonne, Diego Luna, Marc Maron, Thomas Middleditch, and Sonic the Hedgehog himself, Ben Schwartz. The film is directed by Jared Stern, who wrote for the Lego movies and thus knows a bit about self-referential humor. The creative team behind it is basically a collection of veterans from that franchise, and the tone of the trailers we’ve seen reflects that.

Most importantly, however, is that Keanu Reeves‘ Batman voice is pretty strong in this DC League of Super-Pets trailer. It’s not overly gravelly like Bale’s but isn’t just Keanu Reeves talking either. Plus, it gives the character more credibility since we know for sure that he knows kung fu.

DC League of Super-Pets will release in theaters on May 20.
