Destroy All Humans! from Black Forest Games is a third-person open-world action adventure and remake of the 2005 Pandemic Studios game of the same name.
You play as Crypto, an alien who has landed in 1950s America to harvest human DNA and destroy all humans. Across the game’s 20 missions, Crypto can use a variety of skills such as anal probes, brain explosions, and human holograms to finish the level. The remake also introduces a lock-on mechanic called “focus” that makes combat a smoother, easier experience.
Unlike its 2005 counterpart, the Destroy All Humans! remake features six hub worlds that allow you to openly explore to find Furon drones, complete challenges, or simply wreak havoc on the human inhabitants of the world. Each of these optional activities rewards you with DNA that can be used to upgrade your skills and flying saucer. There are four challenge types called Race, Armageddon, Rampage, and Abduction that are all fairly simple but enjoyable side content.
For better or worse, Destroy All Humans! still feels like a game from 2005. It releases July 28 for $29.99 on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Stadia.
