New trailer gives us our first hint of what we’ll see when Doctor Who returns to the small screen next month.
I’ve got to say: the very teasery trailers we’ve seen so far for Doctor Who‘s season 8 premiere on August 23rd have been disappointing, to say the least. But now with just over a month to the actual premiere, we have a real, live trailer for season 8. Sure, it’s still a tease, but with such slim pickings so far, it seems a veritable feast to fans who have been waiting for the return of the Doctor since December’s Time of the Doctor.
As to what’s on deck for season 8, the trailer gives us our first real look at Peter Capaldi in the role of the Doctor, as he ruminates on the mistakes he’s made and whether or not he’s a good man. With 2000 years of misdeeds to look back on, this line of thinking could turn both the trailer and the season into something pretty grim, but the mood is broken with quick glimpses of the madcap action the new series is known for, with shots showing the ever-villainous Daleks and the return Madame Vastra (whom we know will be back alongside the rest of the Paternoster Gang, including Jenny and Strax). But as far as actual storylines, we’ve only gotten hints: we’ll have to wait until August to see just what the Doctor’s up against this season… but with both Daleks and dinosaurs, what could possibly go wrong?
