Nintendo’s DS Lite is dominating console sales in Japan.
According to the research firm Media Create, Nintendo moved 163,188 DS Lite units for the week ending June 24. The newer iteration comes in a variety of colors.
Standing in second place but still far behind was the company’s other popular offering, the Wii, of which 65,582 units were sold.
The DS Lite’s direct competition, Sony’s PlayStation Portable, arrived in third place with 32,984 sold units – less than one-fifth of the DS Lite’s sales volume.
Nonetheless Sony still held an almost three-to-one advantage over Microsoft in the PS3/Xbox 360 arena, with 9,581 PS3s sold compared to 3,369 360s.
