Electronic Arts has announced that Fight Night Round 4, the most realistic “in the ring” experience ever created, is now in development.
Fight Night Round 4 is being built on a re-written engine that adds a variety of fighting styles and “boxer differentiation” to realistically simulate some of the greatest fighters of all time. The game will feature legendary heavyweights including Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson, who can be set against one another in a battle for the ultimate boxing champ for the first time in Fight Night history. Players will be equipped with a full range of punches, blocks and ring movement through an all-new physics-based animation engine that allows for missed and glancing blows, knockout shots and old-school inside fighting.
“The EA Sports Fight Night franchise has always been synonymous with quality and innovation that raised the bar for the sports videogame genre,” said EA Sports Executive Producer Kevin Wilkinson. “EA Sports Fight Night Round 3 was a platform-defining game as the industry transitioned to next generation consoles. EA Sports Fight Night Round 4 will change how boxing games are played and measured in the future.”
EA Sports Fight Night Round 4 is currently in development at Vancouver-based EA Canada for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game is currently targeted for release sometime in 2009.
