A game pack sold by the Entertainment Software Association featuring Cars, Open Season and Fusion Frenzy 2 for the Xbox 360 has sold over 90,000 copies.
Games donated by Disney Interactive, THQ, Ubisoft, Pixar and even Sony Pictures were offered royalty-free so the maximum amount of dollars could be donated directly to five charities, all of which are related to promoting technology education for children.
A consortium of seventeen retailers, including Amazon.com, Best Buy, Target and GameStop, sold the pack at a discounted $29.99.
The five organizations receiving a portion of the $2.6 million raised from the ESA Foundation are:
- Web Wise Kids
- Work, Achievement, Values & Education Inc. (WAVE)
- Hopelabs
- Federation of American Scientists (FAS)
- Computers for Youth
“The entertainment software industry places a priority on giving back to our communities, with a special focus on helping our young people. I’m proud that together with our partners, the ESA Foundation raised a record amount for a variety of worthy causes,” said ESA CEO Michael Gallagher. “We also thank Microsoft Corporation, the main publisher, and the retailers who sold this tremendously successful game pack.”
