On the eve of Cyberpunk 2077‘s release, it’s been somewhat quiet when it comes to video game news, but there are still a few stories to take a look at today. Speaking of Cyberpunk 2077, Xbox players have been able to start playing it early by changing their regional settings. Also, Microsoft has advised fans to temper expectations during The Games Awards 2020, but Striking Distance Studios will be there presenting its narrative-driven take on PUBG, among other reveals of the night. Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg Advises Fans to ‘Dial Expectations’ During The Game Awards 2020
The annual Game Awards ceremony is known for featuring world premiere game announcements, but this year, Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg has asked fans to temper their expectations. Sure, Microsoft will have “a couple moments in the show,” Greenberg stated on Twitter, but he advised fans to “dial expectations way down” based on some of the speculation floating around ahead of the show. The Game Awards 2020 will air tomorrow, Dec. 10.

Striking Distance Studios Will Show Off Its New Game Tomorrow
Speaking of announcements at The Game Awards 2020, Striking Distance Studios — the team handling a narrative take on PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds — will be showing off its new game during the ceremony. Striking Distance is headed by Glen Schofield, the creator of Dead Space. It’s unclear what this new game will look like, but we do know it’ll be a story-driven experience based on PUBG.
This year #TheGameAwards will feature the announcement of some exciting new next-generation projects.

Here’s a Better Look at The Cayo Perico Heist in Grand Theft Auto Online
We’ve known about Grand Theft Auto Online‘s Cayo Perico Heist for a couple weeks now, but today we got a closer look at what to expect from the game’s latest piece of content, thanks to a new trailer. The Cayo Perico Heist sends players to a remote island via submarine and can be completed solo or with friends. It’ll launch next week on Dec. 15. Take a look at the trailer below.
New PS5 and DualSense Updates Went Live Today
This morning, PlayStation 5 owners were greeted by not one, but two updates for the new system. One was for system update 20.02-02.30.00, which improves performance, fixes some crashes, adds WiFi connection stability, and more. The other was for the DualSense itself, though the patch notes don’t specify what fixes are in place for the controller. Do note that you’ll need to plug your DualSense into the PlayStation 5 to initiate the update.

Xbox Players Are Playing Cyberpunk 2077 Early by Changing Their Region to New Zealand
Easily one of the most anticipated games of 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 will be launching tomorrow, but clever Xbox owners have found a way to start playing it right now. From your Xbox Settings, regardless of if you’re playing on an Xbox One, Series X, or Series S, go to Language and Location, where you can change your location to New Zealand. Then the countdown timer will disappear, allowing you to jump in right now (assuming you’ve got the digital edition preloaded). Unfortunately, PlayStation owners will have to wait until Dec. 10 to play. (Trust us — we tried.)
