There’s plenty to discuss when it comes to video games today, like Sony’s reported increase in PlayStation 5 production quantities and Paper Mario: The Origami King‘s positive critical reception. Sony Reportedly Increasing PlayStation 5 Production by 50%
According to a Nikkei and Bloomberg report, Sony will be doubling the number of PlayStation 5 units produced by March 2021. Originally, Sony had planned on producing around six million PS5 units by that time, but now it is aiming for around nine million. Over 10 million DualSense controllers are planned accordingly.
The increase in production is to meet high demand during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sony says the PS5 is still on track to release by this holiday, though its price and release date are still unknown.

Joker and Hero Amiibo Get Fall Release Date
Persona 5‘s Joker and Dragon Quest‘s Hero amiibo will both be releasing on Oct. 2, as announced by Nintendo via Twitter. You can preorder them both through Best Buy right now, and you might want to act fast since many amiibo have become hard to find — especially given the two characters’ popularity. Both will set you back $15.99 and will arrive on release day when preordered through the retailer. Other retailers are likely to open preorders in the near future.

Paper Mario: The Origami King Is Performing Better Critically Than Many Had Expected
Following revelations that Paper Mario: The Origami King would continue down its adventure track and lacks RPG elements like leveling up, many fans were disappointed. However, the game’s review embargo lifted today, and to the surprise of many, it is doing quite well overall.
It doesn’t seem to be a masterpiece or anything, but numerous outlets gave it high scores in the 8s, with some 7s and 9s, and it currently holds a score of 81 on Metacritic. You’ll have to judge it for yourself when it releases on July 17, exclusively for Nintendo Switch.

eFootball PES 2022 Will Be Built from the Ground Up in Unreal Engine
Those expecting a huge overhaul with eFootball PES 2021 will likely be disappointed, as Konami just confirmed this year’s soccer sim will be a “season update.” However, the development team is apparently hard at work on PES 2022, which will be running on some version of Unreal Engine and will be built from the ground up with next-generation systems in mind.
To coincide with eFootball PES 2021‘s smaller scale, it will be less expensive and will serve as a standalone release, not an add-on DLC to PES 2020. Its release date is unknown, but typically the PES games launch in September.

The Uncharted Movie Will Soon Start Filming
The Uncharted movie has been in development hell for the better part of a decade and has undergone numerous directors and production issues. However, it seems the film may actually be happening, as its star, Tom Holland, has seemingly confirmed he’s on the set and the movie will be shot. An Instagram post from the actor features an image of his chair with the name “Nate” on it, as well as the caption “Day one #uncharted.”
It was originally supposed to have begun filming by now, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was pushed back. The film still has a July 2021 release window, but as many films have been delayed, we’ll see if that time frame sticks.
