We can all rejoice knowing that Pikmin 3 Deluxe is headed to Nintendo Switch later this year, following its announcement on Twitter today, but there’s so much more to talk about. For starters, Call of Duty 2020 has been confirmed, we got more details about Spider-Man’s exclusivity in PlayStation versions of Marvel’s Avengers, and more. Nintendo NY Will Reopen This Week
The Nintendo NY store in New York City will be opening its doors to the general public again starting on Friday, Aug. 7, but with a couple caveats. Doors will be opening at limited capacity by appointment only. The store’s official Twitter page posted a list of the rules, store hours, and a link to the site to make reservations. Visitors will be able to attend in 30-minute intervals and can make appointments up to five days in advance. This change comes in the wake of the global COVID-19 pandemic, which caused stores across the world to close due to safety concerns. It’s unknown when the store will reopen in regular format.

Spider-Man Is Marvel’s Avengers’ Only Exclusive Character
Following the tremendous controversy sparked by Spider-Man’s exclusivity in PlayStation versions of the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers, Crystal Dynamics head Scot Amos explained that this is the only character that will be exclusive to any platform. “That is the only character that we are doing that way,” Amos said to IGN Japan.
He added, “(The inclusion of) Spider-Man is a unique opportunity for us because of the relationship that PlayStation and Marvel have.” The game’s creative director, Shaun Escayg, then confirmed that this will be a different Spider-Man than the one in Insomniac’s 2018 game. “It’s going to be our version of Spider-Man, inspired by our world and integrated into our story,” Escayg said. While many were relieved to know this is the only exclusivity deal the game will have, many fans still take issue with it, even those who plan on purchasing the game on PlayStation 4 and/or PlayStation 5.

Street Fighter V Summer Update Reveals New Content Through Fall 2021
A slew of Street Fighter V: Champion Edition announcements were made today, detailing what to expect for the foreseeable future of the game’s life cycle. Impressively, it will get new characters periodically, leading up to fall 2021. The new characters and their release windows are as follows:
- Dan Hibiki – winter 2020
- Rose – spring 2021
- Oro – summer 2021
- Akira Kazama – summer 2021
- Unannounced character – fall 2021
The roadmap also notes that new stages, costumes, battle mechanics, and more will be sprinkled throughout the next year. To top things off, you can participate in a free trial for Street Fighter V: Champion Edition starting today, allowing you to play with all 40 characters. Discounts on various versions of the game are available through the PS Store and Steam today as well.

Detroit: Become Human Has Sold Over 5 Million Copies
The Steam release of Detroit: Become Human has shot the game’s sales up to over 5 million, making it one of the most successful Quantic Dream games to date. While many took issue with the game’s story and how it felt a little on the nose, its gameplay is accessible and easy to get into — allowing players to make decisions to alter the course of the narrative. Detroit initially came to PlayStation 4 in 2018 as an exclusive but was later ported to PC via Epic Games Store in December 2019 and then to Steam this past June.

The Next Call of Duty Game Is Coming in 2020 and Will Be Revealed in a “Very Different and More Engaging” Way
We’ve reported on the oddity of not seeing an official Call of Duty 2020 announcement by this point. However, a game is still launching this year, as Activision President Robert Kostich (not to be confused with Bobby Kotick) confirmed a new Call of Duty is coming in 2020 and will be revealed in a way we might not expect.
During a recent earnings call, Kostich said, “Warzone has caused us to rethink how, when, and even where we reveal our upcoming titles, so we can’t wait to share that with the community. We think it’s going to be very different and more engaging than anything we’ve ever done before.” With that in mind, we could get the new reveal from within Call of Duty: Warzone itself, or during this week’s State of Play.
