Charity Golf Tournament Benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern North Carolina

The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human spirit with hope, strength and joy.

Now that the East Coast Game Conference has just passed we are now gearing up for the 2nd annual charity golf classic with Triangle Gaming Initiative benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern North Carolina at Lonnie Poole Golf Course. The Lonnie Poole golf course has become a local favorite with it’s stunning layout that was designed by Arnold Palmer and the design team at Arnold Palmer Design Company (including Erik Larsen and Brandon Johnson, both NC State graduates). With breathtaking views of the Raleigh skyline and the award winning Centennial Campus, this golf course will not only be beautiful but it is a very challenging course for the avid golfer (which makes captains choice play a lot of fun).

Last years event was a lot of fun and we raised over $1000 for the Make A Wish Foundation of Eastern North Carolina. Geomagic won last years tournament with an impressive 10 under par with a close second and third from the teams of DocuSource and Gray and Creech. Geomagic will be coming back to defend the cup, will you be able to bring a team together to challenge all 3 team winners? There will be a lot of prizes to give away this year, almost one at every hole. So come and help support the kids in this charity golf classic event with Triangle Game Initiative and enjoy a classic North Carolina Barbeque.

Event Information

The Lonnie Poole Golf Course at NC State University has unique features that set it apart from other courses in the region. It represents the evolution in golf course architecture towards sustainability; a golf course that fits into and protects the natural environment. As with Bethpage Black, Bandon Dunes, Whistling Straits, and Pine Valley, it leans heavily on traditional Scottish designs while accommodating the natural landscape.

The Design. The Arnold Palmer Design group used features in the existing landscape as the primary cues for their design. Located on 250 acres inside the city of Raleigh, the golf course routing is dictated by large elevation changes. It meanders around large buffer areas that were left in place to protect streams and wetlands that are in the Neuse River watershed. The buffers provide protected habitat for wildlife and native plant species.

Play a round of golf at this challenging course while supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of North Carolina and helping make a difference in a child’s life. What a great way to thank a client or co-worker, network or just enjoy a day on the course. Following the event there will be a reception mixed with the Triangle Game Initiative monthly Social with a traditional good old Pig Pickin’ and cocktails.
