Faith of Danschant: Hereafter, Chinese Action RPG, Shows off Visceral English Gameplay

Faith of Danschant: Hereafter trailer China JoyFun

Beijing Studio Joyfun has released an English gameplay trailer for Faith of Danschant: Hereafter, an action RPG inspired by Chinese mythology. It’s a sequel to 2017’s Faith of Danschant and features Chinese martial arts and sword fighting.

The game follows a swordsman named Xing Yuan and his daughter Xing Xia. In the trailer, Xing Xia gets kidnapped by monsters and he chases after her. The environments look quite beautiful, and the traversal mechanics are reminiscent of something like in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Xing Yuan is able to climb atop trees and get the preemptive jump on groups of enemies.

The end of the Faith of Danschant: Hereafter trailer shows a boss battle against a giant woman, and there are some cinematic quick-time events featured such as sliding through a collapsing bridge. The game is built in Unreal Engine 4 and uses NVIDIA RTX ray tracing and DLSS. Surprisingly, the game has an English dub, but the Chinese voice track is available too.

This game isn’t the first action RPG to come out of China. Black Myth: Wukong made waves last year with its gameplay trailer. Both games are inspired by Chinese mythology.

Faith of Danschant: Hereafter is set to release at some point on PC and consoles.
