The next entry in the Far Cry series, Far Cry 6, has been leaked via the Hong Kong PlayStation Store. Information about the game’s premise was included in the store’s listing and also provided the presumed cover.
Far Cry 6 takes place on a tropical island named Yara, seemingly inspired by Cuba. The dictator Anton Castillo and his son Diego want to restore the island nation “back to its former glory by any means.” A revolution has stirred as a result of their rule.
The game’s cover shows both Castillo and Diego, with Giancarlo Esposito’s likeness being used for the former. Last week, Esposito revealed that he had been working on a big video game, and it was (correctly) rumored to be Far Cry 6.

Players will assume the role of Dani Rojas, a local who fights against Castillo’s military in what Ubisoft boasts is “the largest Far Cry playground to date across jungles, beaches, and Esperanza, the capital city of Yara.”
Additionally, the listing states that those who buy the PlayStation 4 version will also receive the PlayStation 5 version for free. Ubisoft already confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla would be utilizing Xbox Series X’s Smart Delivery feature, so it stands to reason that owners of the Xbox One version could receive the next-generation upgrade of Far Cry 6 for free as well.
According to the listing, Far Cry 6 is set to release on Feb. 18, 2021. We’ll most likely see official information regarding this game on July 12 during Ubisoft’s digital event, Ubisoft Forward.
Update: Ubisoft has acknowledged the legitimacy of the leak.
