Far Cry 6 has been (officially) revealed. Ubisoft got the chance to unveil the latest entry in the open-world series on its own terms during today’s Ubisoft Forward event. The world premiere trailer offered an English version of yesterday’s leaked footage, so you can finally hear Giancarlo Esposito’s menacing voice come through in the video below.
Information such as the Feb. 18, 2021 release date and free upgrades for those that purchase the game on PlayStation and Xbox consoles all leaked earlier this week, but some new Far Cry 6 details were still saved for today. For example, an update on Ubisoft’s website revealed that players will take control of either a female or male Dani Rojas:
…you will help stoke the fires of revolution through guerrilla warfare across the island of Yara, from verdant jungles to the urban streets of the capital city, Esperanza. You’ll use a powerful array of weapons and vehicles, and build a network of allies to fight alongside you, including Fangs for Hire like Chorizo, the dangerously distracting wiener dog. As President Castillo prepares his son Diego, played by Anthony Gonzalez (Coco), to succeed him, you will do all you can to ensure his plans don’t come to fruition.
Far Cry 6 also has special editions that are now available to preorder: a Gold Edition, Ultimate Edition, and Collector’s Edition. Each special version comes with its own goodies, and players that preorder even the standard version of the game will net their own exclusive content.
After Ubisoft Forward concluded, the publisher uploaded an interview with Esposito and Gonzalez that you can watch below. Game screenshots are available as well, via Gematsu.
Far Cry 6 is scheduled to launch for Google Stadia, PC via the Epic Games Store and Uplay, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on Feb. 18.
